Ultra-high intensity laser physics

The Lund High Power Laser Facility, located in the basement of the Atomic Physics Division, includes a state-of-the-art multi-terawatt laser system (40 TW at 10 Hz, with 35 fs pulse duration). Centered around this laser, a local research group is performing research on ultra-high intensity laser physics. The group is, in particular, performing research on laser-plasma interactions at intensities where relativistic effects dominate, and laser-plasma based acceleration of electrons and proton. The group is further studying the generation of ultra-short and intense pulses of x-rays in the keV range.
